Accessories for glazing units:
Glass spacers are an essential element in glazing units to form a gap between the panes. Effect Glass offers the following types of glass spacer:
- Aluminium, from 6 to 24 mm thick
- Galvanised steel, from 10 to 18 mm thick
- Stainless steel, from 10 to 16 mm thick
- Plastic, i.e. insulating glass spacers from 8 to 32 mm thick and ½
* Standard spacer thickness: 10 mm, 12 mm, 14 mm, 16 mm and 18 mm.
* Custom frames thickness: 6 mm, 8 mm, 20 mm, 22 mm, and 24 mm.
Low emissivity glass and filling the area between panes with a noble gas significantly increases the insulation performance of a glazing unit, with edges separated from each other and joined using materials with a much higher thermal conductivity. This creates a thermal bridge, which allows the flow of energy from the warm inside pane towards the cold exterior pane, which might result in water vapour condensation on the glass surface, especially in rooms where the humidity is excessive. It led to a quest for new technologies and materials for the development of a spacer with reduced thermal conductivity. The result was a new element in the form of an insulating glass spacer.
Advantages of the insulating glass spacers:
- Good insulation
- Energy efficiency
- Maximum heat transfer coefficient value (passive construction)
- Longer life of the window.
Effect Glass currently uses two different types of insulating spacer:
- Swisspacer Advance – a new version of our well-known insulating spacer. This model offers an excellent compromise between high quality and price.
- Swisspacer Ultimate – the latest generation of insulating spacer that provides the lowest heat transfer rates. This unique spacer is made of a material with special properties enhanced by a thin layer of special high-tech film which ensures 100% elimination of leakage of sealing gases and water vapour. The cutting edge gas-tight barrier used in the Ultimate spacer is just as effective in eliminating gas and water vapour penetration as a layer of metal foil, such as aluminium or steel. It is perfect for double and triple glazing units thanks to the robust, rigid design and semi-gloss finish, which means that it does not reflect in the glass or break clean glazing lines.
In contrast to the widely used metal spacers, the insulating spacer can be also made from quality thermally-optimized organic materials, glass fibre reinforced, with an ultra-thin stainless steel or aluminium film attached to the outside. This film ensures very good adhesion of the seals fixing the glazing unit and seals against the passage of filling gas and water vapour. The basic feature of a modern window, i.e. heat insulation, is thus guarantee
Windowpane dividers:
Windowpane dividers are a popular window ornament in the form of a division into smaller areas. The Effect Glass range includes profiles of different widths, available in RAL palette colours, veneered with timber imitation film, and the “Vienna” dividers which resemble glass spacers.
